An art piece in response to the Australian marriage equality debate and the ensuing community unrest over the hugely traumatic events caused by the 2017 Australian plebiscite.

 

Created for Oyster Club at Sydney Fringe Festival and curated as part of the 2018 Sydney Mardi Gras Art After Hours at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Bleeding Bride is an interactive long form performance where both costume and creature wearing it unravel before the eyes of the onlooker.

 

No one should be made to feel the way the LGBTQ+ community are made to feel, especially around discussion of basic human rights. This piece was made to evoke empathy by displaying Brendan's emotional journey.
